For small work — a door hung, shelves put up, a loft ladder fitted — a half-day or day rate is usually the fairest way to price it, and we will tell you which applies before we start. For anything larger, like a kitchen, a media wall or a run of fitted wardrobes, we quote a fixed price for the whole job after seeing it, covering labour and any materials we are supplying. That price is the price: we do not add extras at the end for things that were visible when we quoted.

If you have not ordered yet, it is worth talking to us first, because we can check the plan against the actual room and flag anything that will not work before you have paid for it — a unit that fouls a boiler pipe or a door that cannot open fully is much cheaper to fix on a drawing.

A single alcove wardrobe is usually one to two days on site. A full wall of wardrobes with a run of doors, drawer banks and internal lighting is generally three to five days, depending on the finish. If the fronts are being sprayed or painted, allow extra for drying between coats. We will give you the day count with the quote, and we work to it.

Yes, and it is one of the jobs we are asked for most. We build the frame, recess the TV so it sits flush, conceal every cable and socket inside the structure, and form the opening for the fire to the clearances its manufacturer specifies. Two things matter and often get missed: the TV needs ventilation and it needs to be reachable afterwards, so we build a service void and removable panels rather than sealing it in. We can leave it ready for a plasterer or hand it back finished.

We are happy to supply everything, in which case the materials are itemised in your quote, or to fit materials you have bought yourself — that is completely normal with kitchens, doors and flooring in particular. If you are buying, we will give you a measured list of exactly what to order, including the bits people forget like trims, thresholds, underlay and the right fixings, so nothing stops the job halfway through.

Yes. We fit certified fire doors with the correct intumescent strips, smoke seals, hinges and closers — the certification only holds if the door is hung and sealed the way it was tested, which is where most failed inspections come from. It comes up a lot in the student housing around Cathays and Roath. Tell us what your licensing officer or fire risk assessment has specified and we will fit to it.

Small jobs are genuinely welcome. A door that will not close, a shelf that needs putting up properly, flat-pack that has sat in its box since Christmas, a fence panel down after a windy week — we would rather do a small job well and be the person you call next time. If you have a list of them, we will take the whole list in one visit rather than charging a call-out for each item.

Carpentry makes dust, so we manage it rather than pretend otherwise: dust sheets down, doorways sealed where we are cutting, extraction on the tools where we can use it, and the work area cleared and swept before we leave each day. Cutting is done outside or in the garage wherever the weather and the site allow. Nothing gets left in the middle of your living room overnight.

Larger jobs — kitchens, wardrobe runs, media walls — depend on what is already booked in, so it is generally two to four weeks out.
